A Family Evening Remembering Old Times
I am Iris. Last night our family sat in the living room with tea and old photo albums. We did not plan the evening carefully; it began when Dad found a box from ten years ago behind winter coats in the hall cupboard.
Last night Mom opened the first album and pointed to a picnic near the river. Three summers ago we repeated the same picnic with similar sandwiches and the same blue blanket. Last night Lily laughed because her hair looked shorter in the older photo and she wore shoes we donated last spring.
Dad told a story about a holiday five years ago when our car stopped on a hot road far from home. Last month he checked the same car into the garage for new brakes, and last night he said that old breakdown taught him to carry water and maps.
