Looking Back at Our First Year in the New Flat
I am Amir. My wife Lina and I moved into our flat above the bookshop twelve months ago. Last week we sat by the window and talked about the year we didn't expect to pass so quickly.
We didn't know the neighbours well on the first day. Did the bookshop owner welcome us? Yes, he did, with a small plant for the kitchen. Did we hear traffic at night? Yes, we did at first, but we didn't complain after two weeks.
Spring didn't bring big renovations. We didn't paint every wall immediately. Did we fix the loose shelf in the hall? Yes, we did, with help from Lina's brother. Did he stay for dinner? Yes, he did, and he didn't leave before nine.
In summer we didn't travel abroad because work schedules didn't match.
