A Weekend Visit to My Cousin in the Country
Last Friday I took the train to visit my cousin Nora who lives in a village two hours from the city. She met me at the station with her dog and we walked slowly up the hill because my bag felt heavy after the journey.
Nora does not live alone anymore because her partner moved in last spring. Do they both work from home now? They do work from home on most days, but her partner does travel to clients on Thursdays.
We ate soup at the kitchen table and talked about family news. I do not see Nora often, yet we do message every few weeks when life allows. Does our aunt still garden every morning? Nora says she does garden before breakfast when weather stays dry.
On Saturday we walked through fields behind the house until lunch.
