The Day We Adopted a Rescue Dog Named Milo
In March our family visited the animal shelter on Oak Avenue at eleven on a cloudy Saturday, and we had talked about adoption for months because our children wanted a gentle companion after their grandmother's dog moved away with relatives in another city.
The coordinator Ms Flynn showed us several dogs, and she explained histories carefully because rescue animals need patient homes with stable routines. Milo sat quietly in the back corner, and he watched us with calm eyes when my daughter knelt slowly on the floor at half past eleven.
We learned Milo arrived in January, and volunteers walked him twice daily at seven in the morning and again at four in the afternoon because exercise reduces stress in kennels. He liked soft voices, and he disliked loud doors, so we spoke gently during the visit when other families toured nearby rooms.
