What Has Changed in Our Town
I am Rosa. I have lived in Millfield since childhood, and lately neighbours have asked what has changed in our town. The answer has grown longer every year.
The old factory near the river has stood empty since 2019. Developers have turned part of the site into apartments that have attracted young families from the city. Before construction had finished, local groups had debated whether the project had respected the area's history.
Our high street has looked different since three independent shops have closed. A bakery that had served the community for sixty years has shut its doors because costs have risen faster than sales. Since then a cafe has opened in the same unit, and it has drawn students from the nearby college.
The college itself has expanded since the council had approved a new science wing.
