The Train Had Departed Before We Reached the Station
I am Petra. Last month my colleague Ivan and I traveled to a conference in Bristol. We had booked an early train because the opening session had been scheduled for nine sharp.
We had left the hotel at seven fifteen and had walked quickly toward the central station. Ivan said he had checked the platform screen before we had descended the stairs. The display had shown a delay, but we had still felt confident we would arrive on time.
At the ticket gate a staff member told us the seven forty service had departed two minutes earlier. Many passengers had rushed through before the doors had closed. We had missed the train because a taxi had blocked our street longer than we had expected.
Ivan had opened the travel app he had downloaded the night before.
