Weeks Before the Wedding
Documenting the final countdown to a major matrimonial milestone provides an intimate emotional record of joyful anticipation, creative revisions, and nervous excitement. Tonight, sitting in our candlelit living room while listening to quiet piano music, I am writing in our wedding journal. Only three short weeks remain before our wedding ceremony in the village chapel, and our daily schedule has felt like an exhilarating whirlwind of domestic preparations.
Before reaching this final planning phase, my partner Julian and I had completed an enormous amount of logistical work. We had booked our floral decorators, had hired a talented acoustic string quartet, and had designed bespoke illustrated wedding programs for our eighty guests. Julian's mother had volunteered to bake our tiered almond lemon sponge cake, while my sister had arranged the transport coaches. We had coordinated with vendors
