Planning a Wedding: What We Had Done Before the Big Day

I am Jade. My partner Alex and I married last June in a garden venue our friends still describe as calm and bright. The day felt smooth because we had completed most tasks long before guests had arrived.

We had booked the location in January after we had visited three sites near the coast. One hall had looked beautiful in photos, but we had noticed poor lighting when we had toured on a rainy afternoon. The garden estate had charmed us immediately, especially after the manager had shown us the orchard where the ceremony would later take place.

Invitations went out in March. My sister had designed the cards while Alex had compiled the guest list we had started during the previous autumn. Several relatives had replied late because they had misplaced the email, yet most confirmations had reached us before April.
