Weekend Catch-Up Over Coffee and Pastries
I am Nora. On Saturday I met my friends Elise and Ben at a bakery we have loved since university. We ordered coffee and pastries, then found a table near the window where sunlight warmed the chipped mugs.
Elise said she has been working on a thesis chapter for weeks and has been feeling relieved since her advisor approved the latest draft on Thursday. She brought printed pages covered in notes she has been rewriting during early mornings before the office opens.
Ben told us he has been training for a half marathon this autumn. He has been running along the river three times weekly, and his watch shows he has been improving pace slowly since July. He ordered extra water because he had already completed a long run before meeting us.
