Interview Answers: Ever, Never, and Last Year
The HR room was quiet except for a fan near the window. I am Sofia, and I sat across from Mr Reed, who has led hiring at the logistics firm for eight years. He has interviewed hundreds of candidates, he said, yet his questions felt fresh.
He opened with, "Have you ever managed a warehouse team?" I answered, "I have supervised three staff members since April, but I have never managed a full shift alone." That honest split seemed to please him. He nodded and wrote a note.
Next he asked, "What did you do in your last role?" Past simple fit immediately. I worked at a regional depot from 2020 until last December. I coordinated deliveries and I resolved customer complaints by phone. In 2022 I implemented a new tracking sheet that reduced errors.
