Our Plans for a Summer Trip to Portugal
Planning an international holiday with close friends requires patience, negotiation, and careful financial budgeting. Next July, my university friends and I hope to explore the stunning Atlantic coastline of Portugal for two full weeks. Although we have agreed on our general route, our final itinerary depends on several practical conditions. If flights remain affordable next month, we will book our direct tickets to Lisbon immediately.
Our travel adventure will start in the historic capital city if we arrive according to schedule. If we find a reasonably priced rental apartment in the Alfama district, we will stay three days exploring colorful narrow streets, traditional cafes, and scenic hilltop viewpoints. If the weather is pleasantly sunny, we will take a historic wooden tram to Belem to sample famous custard tarts near the riverbank.
After exploring the capital, we intend to head south toward the sunny Algarve region.
