Moving In and Setting Up Our First Flat
I am Tomas. My partner Ana and I moved in together last spring, and our first flat felt empty when we carried the last box through the door. We had to set up everything from scratch, and phrasal verbs filled every conversation that week.
On moving day we woke up early and loaded the van. Ana's brother dropped off a ladder and some tools in the morning. He helped us bring in the sofa before he had to head off to work. We thanked him and promised to invite him over once we sorted out the living room.
The previous tenants had moved out quickly, so the place needed a proper clean. We wiped down surfaces, hoovered carpets, and cleaned up the kitchen cupboards. Ana turned on the water and checked that the taps worked.
