Why We Changed Our Travel Plans
Last month my partner and I planned a coastal holiday. We booked trains and hotels early; therefore we expected a smooth trip. However, weather forecasts changed, and as a result we reconsidered every detail.
Initially we wanted to swim every day. The sea looked inviting in photos; moreover, friends recommended quiet beaches nearby. In contrast, storm warnings appeared for our arrival week. Although rain might pass quickly, strong winds could close coastal paths.
We read local news online. Ferry services might cancel; therefore day trips to islands became uncertain. Nevertheless, inland towns remained accessible by rail. On the other hand, inland options offered museums rather than beaches. Consequently, our priorities shifted from sun to culture.
I called the hotel on Monday. The receptionist was polite; however, she could not change dates without a fee.
