Two Views on Working from Home
Our office recently asked staff to share opinions about remote work. I wrote a short piece with two perspectives so colleagues could compare arguments. However, both sides agree that clear communication matters.
Perspective one: remote work helps focus
Maya works as a graphic designer. She says home mornings are quiet; therefore she finishes layouts before lunch. Moreover, she avoids a long commute, and as a result she sleeps longer. Although video calls interrupt her, she mutes notifications during deep work.
She also cites cost savings. Lunch at home is cheaper; furthermore, she spends less on transport cards. In contrast, office days require formal clothes and occasional taxis. Nevertheless, she misses casual chats by the printer. On the other hand, online messages can replace some small talk if teams schedule social breaks.
