How Reading Helped Me Learn Phrasal Verbs Naturally
When I started learning English in secondary school, textbooks listed phrasal verbs in tables that felt impossible to memorise. Teachers who cared about communication later told me to notice how those verbs appeared inside stories, emails, and films rather than in isolation.
At university I joined a book club that read contemporary novels written for young adults. Characters in those books spoke the way people speak in real life. They gave up habits, showed up late, looked after siblings, and carried on despite setbacks. Seeing the same verbs in different scenes helped me understand nuance.
