The rug that covers the living-room floor came from a shop that sells handmade textiles. Patterns that repeat in blue and grey match curtains that hang in the bedroom. Fibres that feel thick under bare feet keep the room warmer in winter.
On the shelf that faces the window sit mugs that friends brought from trips abroad.
