A Letter About the Spring Festival
Dear Aunt Lidia,
Thank you for your message about the spring festival in our town. I wish you could visit this year; however, your clinic schedule looks full until June. Therefore I will describe the events so you can picture them from afar.
Preparations began in March. Volunteers painted banners; moreover, the school choir rehearsed folk songs after classes. In contrast, last year rain cancelled the parade, and as a result organisers moved stalls indoors. Although weather remains unpredictable, we rented tents just in case.
The opening ceremony starts on Saturday at ten. The mayor will speak briefly; nevertheless, most people come for the food stalls. Furthermore, local farmers sell honey, cheese, and early strawberries. On the other hand, vegan options expanded this season, which pleased my roommate.
Children enjoy separate activities. Craft tables open near the library; therefore families can rest while kids paint masks.
