They Were Not Sure Who Would Lead the Meeting

Ten minutes before the project meeting, my team gathered and admitted they were not sure who would lead the discussion. The manager was delayed, and nobody knew whether the agenda had been updated overnight.

I asked whether anyone had seen the latest slides. Priya said she wanted to know if the client would join online or in person. Jonas wondered whether the budget section was ready, because he had not received figures he expected.

HR sent a note asking whether we needed an extra chair for a guest. Reception called to ask what time the visitor would arrive, and I replied that I did not know whether the train was on schedule. These small questions arrived faster than answers.

In the corridor Lisa asked me whether I knew who would open the meeting if our manager remained absent.
