What the Teacher Asked Parents at the Conference
I am Hannah. Our secondary school held parent-teacher conferences last week, and I wrote a summary for neighbours who could not attend. Teachers often mix reported questions with requests for support at home, and the evening left me with pages of notes.
Ms Ortega, our daughter's English teacher, had asked whether Mia had completed the reading journal over the holidays. She told parents to encourage fifteen minutes of reading on weekdays. She asked if anyone at home discussed books aloud, and several parents nodded.
The mathematics teacher, Mr Adeyemi, had asked how often Mia checked answers with a second method. He asked parents to avoid solving problems for children during homework. He asked whether Mia had attended the optional revision session on Thursdays, and I confirmed that she had missed two because of orchestra practice.
