My First Week as Volunteer Coordinator

Day one at a neighbourhood support centre: Eva handed me a folder thicker than I expected. I met Sergio, Laila, and Chris, and each person described a different priority for the first month. The schedule looked manageable on paper, yet reality arrived faster than my confidence.

I want this diary to capture both ordinary tasks and moments that changed my perspective. Formal inversion feels strange in a personal notebook, but it helps me notice emphasis in speech. By tonight I already see why experienced coordinators rely on precise language under stress.

Each debrief connected evidence with human concerns, so decisions felt accountable rather than arbitrary. In no way did Laila question the timeline without considering how the choice would affect the audience. Only when the evidence was complete did Sergio track every revision, and that delay ultimately protected quality.
