Email to a Friend About the Festival, Which We Almost Missed
Subject: You were right about the harbour festival
Hi Sophie,
I owe you an apology and a thank-you in the same sentence, which is awkward but accurate. The harbour festival, which you insisted we should not skip, turned out to be the highlight of our trip.
We nearly missed it because Tom, who checked the schedule on his phone, read the wrong weekend. The correct dates, which the tourist office confirmed when I walked in confused, started the day we planned to leave. We extended the rental, which cost extra but saved us from regret.
The opening parade, which wound through narrow streets to the waterfront, featured boats decorated with lights that reflected on calm water. Musicians, who played from decks rather than stages, created sound that moved with the procession.
