My partner laughed when I announced this plan over tea. All they want is a long walk along the canal, and all the children want is permission to invite friends for a board-game marathon. All I want is compromise that still leaves one silent morning for reading.
On Saturday the street market opened early downstairs. All the neighbours seem to want fresh flowers today, and all the stallholders want sunshine that finally arrived after a grey month. All I want is coffee on the balcony before the noise rises.
