I. The Miller’s Big Words

In a small village there is an old mill. A mill is a building where people make flour from corn. A poor miller works there. He does not have much money. His clothes are old, and his house is small.

But the miller has a daughter, and she is very pretty. She has kind eyes and long hair. She helps her father in the mill every day.

One day the miller has to go to the palace. He has to speak to the king. He puts on his best coat, but it is still an old coat. He walks up to the big palace, and he feels very small.

The king sits on a high chair. He has a golden crown on his head. Rich lords and ladies stand round him. They all look at the poor miller.
