An Email from Kangaroo Island
Dear Lily,
I am writing to you from a beautiful place in Australia. I am on Kangaroo Island for a week. The nature here is very different from our city.
The animals on this island do not live in a zoo. They walk freely in the forests and on the white beaches. The koalas do not move very fast. They sit in the tall green trees all day. My guide says that koalas do not drink much water because they get water from the leaves.
The kangaroos do not sleep at night. They are very active in the evening. They do not eat meat; they only eat grass and small plants. Sometimes they come near our camp, but they do not hurt people.
The weather is very warm, so we do not wear heavy jackets.
