Emma Made a Birthday Surprise for Grandpa
I am Emma. Last Sunday my cousins and I made a birthday surprise for Grandpa. He turned seventy, and we wanted the day to feel special.
In the morning I wrote cards with bright pens. My cousin Jake bought balloons at the corner shop. My cousin Lily brought flowers from her garden. She cut roses and lilies before we left her house.
Mom drove us to Grandpa's house at noon. We came through the side gate quietly. Grandpa sat in the garden and read the newspaper. He wore his old brown hat and looked calm.
We sang when he saw us on the lawn. He stood up fast and gave us big hugs. His eyes looked happy, and he told us we made his day. He said he did not expect so many guests.
