Lily Celebrated Her Birthday Last Saturday
I am Jake. I am Lily's cousin. Last Saturday Lily celebrated her twelfth birthday at her house. The whole family looked forward to the party for weeks.
Lily's mom baked a chocolate cake on Friday evening. She decorated the cake with pink flowers and small candles. Lily helped her wrap small gifts for the games. They placed chairs and tables in the garden behind the house.
Guests arrived at three o'clock in the afternoon. Lily invited classmates, neighbours, and cousins like me. Everyone brought cards and smiled at the colourful balloons. Lily hugged each friend at the gate.
We played music on a portable speaker near the fence. Some children danced on the grass while others talked quietly. Lily's dad photographed the group before the games started. The sun warmed our faces during the first hour.
