The camel is a large and strong animal. It lives in the dry desert, but it does not need to drink water every day. It can walk for many days without water because it stores fat in its hump.
During the day, the desert is very hot, but the camel does not get sick. Its long legs keep its body away from the hot sand, and its thick coat protects its skin from the sun.
At night, the desert becomes cold. The camel stays warm because its coat is very thick. It is a slow animal, but it can carry heavy bags across the sand. Many people use camels for travel.
