Morning Rounds at the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre

I am Clara, and I work at a sea turtle rescue centre on the coast of Florida. Every day I wake up at five in the morning, because the turtles need food early. I like working with animals, but the mornings are very busy.

At six, my team and I check the beach for new nests. Do we find eggs every day? No, we do not find them every day in spring, but we see many of them in summer. When we find a nest, we put a small fence around it. This helps the eggs, because dogs and birds cannot reach them.

After that, we go back to the centre. I love feeding the baby turtles. We give small pieces of fish to them. They eat quickly! Does my manager help me?
