I. A World with No Trouble

This story is very, very old. It is about a time thousands of years ago, when the world is still young.

In those days, everybody in the world is a child. There are no mothers and fathers. Nobody needs them. There is no danger and no trouble of any kind.

Food grows on the trees. Is a child hungry? He goes to a tree and takes his dinner from it. In the morning, a tree has a new flower on it. That flower is tonight’s supper. In the evening, a tree has a small new bud. That bud is tomorrow’s breakfast.

Nobody works. There are no lessons to learn. The children play and dance all day long. They talk and sing like birds, and they laugh and laugh.

The children never fight. They never cry.
