The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a very special place in the Pacific Ocean. They belong to Ecuador. Tourists travel there to see the unique nature.

Many rare animals live on the islands. The giant tortoises are huge and heavy. Some of them live for over a hundred years. They move slowly, but they are strong.

The marine iguanas dive into the ocean to find food. They have dark skin and long tails. They look like small dragons.

The water around the islands feels cold. However, many fish, sharks, and even penguins swim in the sea.

The whole area is a national park. This protects the animals and the plants from danger.
