The Edge: A Smart Building
The Edge is a famous office building in Amsterdam. It is a very modern place. Many people say it is the smartest building in the world.
I am a technology journalist, and today I am inside The Edge. My guide is Sarah. She is an engineer here. We are in the main hall.
Sarah says, "We are very proud of this building. It is like a giant computer. The walls and ceilings are full of small sensors."
"The lights are completely automatic," she explains. "They are off when a room is empty. I am never in the dark, but we save energy."
The roof is also very special. The solar panels are on the top of the building. They are the power source for the computers and lights.
The building is also very comfortable. Sarah says, "The temperature is always perfect for the workers.
