Arthur is a professional lighthouse keeper. He lives and works in a tall white lighthouse on a high cliff by the sea. The lighthouse is very old, but it is a safe and comfortable home for Arthur and his loyal dog, Rex.
Arthur loves his quiet and lonely life on the cliff. He believes that his work is extremely important because the bright light of the lighthouse guides ships safely at night. His daily routine is simple but very active.
Every morning, Arthur wakes up at six o'clock. First, he makes a hot cup of tea and feeds Rex. Then, they walk up the long stone spiral stairs to the top tower. Arthur checks the big lamp and cleans the thick glass windows very carefully.
During the day, Arthur does many different chores. He repairs the machinery, paints the wooden walls, and watches the ocean with his binoculars.
