At the Library with My Class
Our teacher took us to the local library last Tuesday. We walked there from school in two groups. She told us to stay quiet when we arrived at the entrance. A librarian met us at the door and welcomed our class inside.
The library is a large building on the main street. The children section is on the ground floor on the left side of the building. Long shelves of books stand in rows in the room. Picture books sit on the lower shelves. Longer novels are on the shelves higher up.
The librarian showed us how to find a book in the catalogue. She pointed to the computers at the desk near the window. You type the title in the search box on the screen. The computer shows you which shelf the book is on and its number.
