What Happened During Our School Play
I am Sara. Last month our class performed a short play in the school hall. We practiced for three weeks, but one moment changed everything on opening night.
The audience was arriving when we were putting on costumes backstage. Ms Cole was helping with buttons while Jake was searching for his hat. Were we nervous? Yes, we were nervous, but we were also excited.
While the parents were finding seats, the lights were getting brighter on stage. I was standing behind the curtain when I heard my name in the first scene. Did I remember every line? I thought I did, but my hands were shaking.
The music started and the curtain opened slowly. Emma was reading the opening lines when a microphone made a sharp noise. The sound was not clear, and the teacher was fixing a cable near the wall.
