Diary: Our Weekend City Break
Saturday, 14 March
We arrived in Riverton on Friday evening after a three-hour drive. My partner Alex was tired, but I was excited because I had not visited this city for five years.
While Alex was checking into the hotel, I was looking at a map of the old town. The receptionist was explaining where the best bakeries were when a group of tourists came through the door with wet coats.
We did not eat at the hotel because we wanted local food. We walked to a small restaurant near the river. The waiter was recommending fish soup when Alex was reading the menu slowly.
Did we enjoy the first meal? Yes, we enjoyed it, although the kitchen was busy and the service was not fast. We were talking about our plans for Saturday while the rain was tapping on the windows.
