Two Friends Remember Their First School Trip

I am Eva. Last month I met my old friend Tom at a café near the station. We talked for an hour about school, work, and the trips we shared years ago. Tom remembered our first school trip to the coast better than I expected.

We traveled by coach when we were twelve. Our class left early on a Friday morning, and teachers counted students near the school gate. Tom sat by the window and waved at parents who stayed on the pavement. I packed sandwiches and a rain jacket because the forecast looked uncertain.

When we arrived, we walked along the pier and watched boats in the harbour. A guide explained how fishermen repaired nets and stored crates on the dock. Some classmates bought postcards while others photographed seagulls near the railings.
