How Many Guests Will Come on Saturday?
I am Lily. My parents planned a small party for Saturday because my grandmother turned seventy. On Thursday Mom sat at the kitchen table with some lists and asked how many guests would come.
Dad counted some names on his phone and said maybe twelve people, not many children but some cousins from the coast. Mom asked if he sent any reminders to Uncle Mark. Dad said he sent some messages yesterday but did not receive any reply yet.
We needed some food for many hungry visitors. Mom wrote some dishes on a paper and asked if we had any rice left in the cupboard. I checked and said there was some rice, not much, but enough if we bought some more at the shop.
At the market Mom picked some vegetables for soup.
