Our Neighbourhood Club Meets on Thursday Evenings
Every Thursday at seven in the evening our neighbourhood club meets in the community hall on River Lane. I joined last autumn because I wanted to know people on my street, and the group welcomed me with friendly smiles and hot tea.
Mrs Cole leads the meetings, and she likes planning talks about local history and gardening. Mr Patel brings biscuits on the first week of each month because he enjoys baking for friends. I help him carry boxes from his car when rain falls in the evening.
Do you belong to a club near your home? My neighbour Rosa does not attend every week, but she loves the spring plant swap on Saturdays in the hall garden. She gives me cuttings for my balcony, and I water them carefully because small plants need patience.
