A Rainy Afternoon at the Library with My Sister

Last Wednesday rain fell all afternoon, so my sister Clara and I walked to the public library on King Street at two o'clock. We usually play outside after school, but wet weather pushed us indoors, and the library felt warm and quiet near the reading desks.

Clara loves picture books about animals, and she ran to the children's corner because new titles arrived on Monday. I chose a novel about travel, and I sat beside her because parents asked me to stay close in busy rooms.

Do you read at the library on rainy days? Our neighbour Ben does not visit often, but he likes history magazines near the front desk on Tuesdays. He waved to us when we entered, and he recommended a short article about old bridges because Clara asked about rivers.
