Finding Confidence in a New Language Class

When I moved to this town in September, I felt shy in shops and at the bus station because my English sounded slow in fast conversations. A neighbour recommended evening classes at the language centre on Church Street, and I enrolled on the first Monday of October at six thirty after work.

Our teacher Ms Reed speaks clearly, and she groups students by level because mixed classes confuse beginners who need simple patterns first. I sit near the door, and I partner with Rosa from Brazil because she encourages me when I forget words during speaking tasks at seven fifteen.

Do you study languages as an adult? I did not study formally for years, but I like learning now because daily life requires phrases for appointments, directions, and friendly chats with colleagues at lunch on Wednesdays near the office park.
