Weeks Before the Wedding
Monday, 14 April
Three weeks remain until the ceremony, and the house has felt like a workshop since March. Marco has built centrepieces I had admired in a magazine before we had chosen the venue.
Tuesday, 15 April
The caterer called to confirm numbers. Forty guests have accepted, though two cousins had declined because flights had become too expensive. I have rewritten the seating chart twice since yesterday.
Wednesday, 16 April
My dress fitting went well. The tailor had shortened the hem after I had tried the shoes I had bought online. Since the alteration the fabric has moved more naturally when I walk.
Thursday, 17 April
Marco's parents have arrived from Italy. They had not visited our city since the engagement party last autumn. His mother has already reorganised our kitchen in ways I have secretly appreciated.
