What Has Changed in Our Neighbourhood

I am Omar. I have lived on Maple Street for twelve years, and I have noticed many changes recently. Our neighbourhood has grown busier, but it has also become more friendly in small ways.

A new bakery has opened on the corner. It has replaced an empty shop that has stood closed for years. The owner has baked bread since five each morning, and residents have already formed a queue before eight.

The council has planted trees along the pavement. Birds have returned to the street, and children have played under shade in summer. My neighbour Mrs Reid has watered the young trees every week since April.

Developers have built flats behind the old garage. Construction has finished, and families have moved in during spring. I have met several new neighbours, and we have exchanged phone numbers for community alerts.
