Our Band Has Rehearsed For Six Months
I am Jay. Four friends and I have played music together in a garage band for six months. We have not performed on a big stage yet, but we have improved enough to consider our first pub gig.
We have practiced every Thursday evening for two hours since April. Neighbours have tolerated our volume because we have finished before nine o'clock. Our drummer has brought snacks we have shared during short breaks.
I have sung lead vocals for the whole period. My voice has grown stronger since we started recording practice sessions on a phone. Listening back has shown mistakes I have corrected slowly.
Our guitarist Mia has written most of our songs for four months. She has combined folk melodies with lyrics about city life since she moved downtown last year. Audiences have not heard those songs live yet, but we have posted demos online.
