Moving to Manchester in September
I am Aisha. In September I will start a nursing course in Manchester, and I am leaving my hometown for the first time. My parents worry, but we discuss practical steps every Sunday after lunch.
If I find a room in a shared flat near campus, I will walk to lectures and save transport money. If rents are too high in the centre, I will look in Fallowfield where many students live. If I sign a contract, I will read every clause before I transfer the deposit.
If my parents drive me on moving day, we will leave at six in the morning to avoid traffic. If the motorway is closed, we will take the alternative route my uncle suggested. If the flat is not ready when we arrive, we will store boxes at a friend's house temporarily.
