Diary Entry After the Conference

Friday, 18 October

The conference ended three hours ago, and I am finally alone in the hotel room with tea and a notebook. If I had skipped the evening reception, I would have packed calmly, yet the conversations there were probably more valuable than the keynote slides that were uploaded before lunch.

Dr Patel asked whether our pilot study had been peer-reviewed. I told her that drafts were circulated internally but external review had not been completed. She advised me to submit before the spring deadline and not to wait until figures were polished beyond recognition.

During the panel, an audience member wondered why qualitative findings had not been integrated with the statistical model. Moderators requested that questions be brief, and speakers were given two minutes each to respond. I noted that mixed methods were planned for phase two if funding were renewed.
