Interview With a Project Manager About Site Safety
Interviewer: Today we speak with project manager Luis Ortega about safety briefings on a bridge renovation. Luis, what do supervisors typically ask crews at the start of a shift?
Luis: They ask whether everyone has inspected harnesses. They ask if weather forecasts show wind above safe limits. They tell workers not to enter zones until tags are updated.
Interviewer: What had clients asked you before work resumed last month?
Luis: The client representative asked whether we had completed the independent audit. She asked how long lane closures would last during resurfacing. She told us to post detour maps online and not to start night shifts without notifying residents.
Interviewer: How do you report those conversations to headquarters?
Luis: I write what each party asked and requested. Yesterday I noted that the safety officer asked whether cranes had been certified this quarter.
