Roommates Recount the Housewarming Party
Hosting a housewarming celebration marks the joyous culmination of finding, leasing, and furnishing a new home with roommates. On Sunday morning, my roommates Sarah, Julian, and I sat around our sunny kitchen island drinking coffee while recounting our housewarming gathering from the previous evening. More than twenty close university friends and new neighbours had visited our three-bedroom apartment, bringing potted houseplants, congratulations, and homemade treats.
Sarah told us that our upstairs neighbour, Mrs. Gable, had been delightful when she stopped by with warm cinnamon rolls. Sarah said that Mrs. Gable had praised our apartment decor and told her that she was thrilled to have quiet, polite young professionals living below her. We had worried that playing acoustic music might disturb nearby apartments, so hearing her reassuring compliments relieved our initial anxieties.
