Things Which Make This Apartment Feel Like Home

Moving into an unfurnished rental flat can initially evoke feelings of detachment and unfamiliarity. Bare white walls, cold wooden floorboards, and hollow rooms often resemble an anonymous hotel rather than a comforting personal sanctuary. Over the past year, however, I have gathered meaningful everyday objects that carry personal memories and bring warmth to the living spaces which I inhabit.

The central feature of my living room is an antique wooden bookcase which my grandfather restored by hand decades ago. Its sturdy oak shelves hold treasured paperbacks that inspired my childhood imagination alongside vintage ceramic bowls that I collected during memorable travels. Every scratch on the aged wood tells a story, giving the room a timeless character that modern flat-pack furniture cannot duplicate.

Near the south-facing balcony sits a comfortable armchair which I bought at a vibrant weekend flea market.
