Three days later I saw something in the sea . It looked like a boat turned upside down , and it really was one ! Perhaps a storm had carried it away from some ship . With the help of twenty ships and three thousand sailors , I brought it to the shore . It was hardly damaged . Soon a messenger came from Lilliput . The Emperor of Lilliput wanted me back , tied hand and foot , to be punished as a traitor . The Emperor of Blefuscu answered politely that this was impossible . Besides , I would soon leave in my boat . Then he secretly offered me a place at his own court . But I had decided never to trust princes again . I thanked him and said no . I think he was quite glad . Five hundred workers made sails for my boat . In a month everything was ready . The Emperor gave me fifty purses of gold and a picture of himself . I also took six live cows , two bulls and some sheep , to show them in England . I wanted to take a few of the little people too , but the Emperor did not allow it . On the 24th of September 1701 I set sail . Two days later I saw a ship with English flags . It was coming home from Japan . I told the captain , Mr John Biddel , where I had been . He thought that my troubles had made me mad . Then I took the tiny cows and sheep out of my pocket . He was amazed , and at last he believed me . We reached England on the 13th of April 1702 . Many people paid to see my little animals , and later I sold them for six hundred pounds . I stayed with my wife and children for only two months . My wish to see the world was too strong . With tears on both sides , I said goodbye and went to sea again . VIII . Part Two : A Land of Giants On the 20th of June 1702 I sailed on a ship called the Adventure . We were going to India . In the Indian Ocean a great storm carried us far to the east . Even the oldest sailor did not know where we were . We had food , but we were running out of water . On the 16th of June 1703 a boy at the top of the mast saw land . The next day the captain sent some men in the long boat to look for water . I went with them , because I wanted to see the country . I walked alone for about a mile , but the land was rocky and bare , so I turned back . Then I saw a terrible sight . Our men were rowing for their lives towards the ship . Behind them a huge creature was walking through the sea . The water only came up to his knees . But the sea was full of sharp rocks , so he could not catch the boat . I did not wait to see more . I ran away and climbed a hill .
