The Question Elena Almost Skipped
Elena Markovic wanted a yes before the call ended. The launch plan sat on the shared screen, her notes were already tidy, and she had asked the only question she thought was left. Who disagrees?
Nobody spoke. In her own office that silence would have been a yes. People there argued in the open, and a quiet room meant the fight was over. She moved her hand to the keyboard to close the document.
Amira, joining from another city, did not say no. She asked whether the local partners had seen the plan.
Elena felt the meeting slip. A question was not an objection. It was a delay, and she had little patience for delay. She wanted the partners to read the plan after the team had agreed, because a public maybe looked, to her, like a room that could not decide.
